history: in 1789 during the French revolution,several groups were against the King,one of them,the federalists wanted to make every provinces or departements autonomous like the different states in the young USA.

In this alternate timeline,the federalists comes to power in several regions such as Normandy and their influence force the revolutionary governement to let them lead the assembly.

during the first years of the revolution the federalists spread their ideals everywhere in France,having more and more power. In Normandy the federalists negociates with the leaders of Picardy,fixing problems in the Border near Aumale,the Bray country; Normand leaders takes Saint clair sur Epte too.

during the next years,instead of invading Europe,French federalists continues their work for democracy and try to spread their ideas out of France,it will lead to a smaller version of the Napoleonic wars with a smaller influence.

The war began but some regions didn't agree,Normandy was one of these regions;and 2 months after the begining of the war,Normandy declares itself independant from France.

the French armies invades the new country but the governement flies to Great Britain and find some help.

at the end of the war,Great Britain asked to France to freed Normandy and other smal regions.

the treaty is signed and Normandy gain independance plus some territories:

-the perseigne (perseign')

-the northern side of the Bresle

-few cities close to the Avre and the Seine

-the island of Jeufosse.

After that,Normandy followed its own way,the relations with France became more cordial after 1830 and,in our timeline, the Normand culture is almost omnipresent in Normandy and in 1845 the flag with the cross of Saint Olaf is adopted.

in the XXth century,during WWII Normandy is invaded by Germany,giving Normandy to the French occupied area but in 1944,the allies freed Normandy and in 1945 Normandy becomes independant again.
