Description
This is another of my Final Fantasy characters for that story idea I have been working on. This is Bryon, the Black Mage. Master of offensive elemental magic, Byron is a novice Black Mage who meets Adriel early in her quest. Still in training, Bryon helps Adriel early when she still needs to know who she is, but then leaves her side for his own reasons, only to return later on to join with her full time.
At first Bryon seems like a simple helpful soul who only wishes to keep Adriel safe, but we later learn he has a strong hatred of the organization chasing her, and helping her is more out of spite for his enemies then it is kindness for a stranger. His brash hatred of his foes can sometime blind him, and he would have done some reckless things if not for the intervention of his friends. He eventually learns to put his friends first ahead of his hatred, not risking his friends out of completing his objective.
I tried to design Bryon to look different then the typical Black Mage or Wizard of traditional games and lore, and while he does not look like a Wizard, he looks more like a modern street kid and not a character in a fantasy story. Bryon is a novice Wizard who only learned to be more through field experience. Thus, he does not wear the official robes of full fledged black mages, though his skills with magic can reach the full potential of any Black Mage. The 2nd outfit is his swimsuit, and the 3rd is an alternate costume of him in a more traditional mage look.
