Use it how? As art to go with the story? Or as a concept to use in a story? If you just want to use their designs as a basis to use in a story, that's fine, even if you put clothes on them. If you want to edit the picture to give them clothing, you should also link back to the original bases this picture was made from, at least crediting the original artist who made them as well.

They don't have horns in the movie. It would be better if they did

Yes, you are indeed right. I think they didn't have them in the film to be consistent with the toys, and the toys didn't give them horns because they would have been difficult to add to dolls.

I don't think the toy makers were necessarily lazy, it just might not have been practical to add it to a doll, and adding a horn to a human head on a doll's body wouldn't have worked as well. There is also the possibility they were more worried about children poking themselves on the horn on a doll rather then on the smaller horse shaped toys. Or maybe it was completely an aesthetic reason, and they decided they didn't look good with horns, a decision clearly we disagree with.Β
