Description
This is an alternate picture in my series of Disney girls in bikinis and as Anthro Animals.. This is Rapunzel, from Tangled, in a pink and purple bikini, and as a anthro tiger. For this pic, her change is that I tried shoulder length brown hair, a mix between her short brown hair and really long blond hair. I liked her brown hair, but I also like long hair, and don't like it short as much. Her bikini colours also more closely match that of her original outfit than before. I chose Tiger for her alternate form because I think it matches her strong and tough, but caring personality, but also because I think it looks nice.I made this picture from a base by found herewww.deviantart.com/art/Rapunze…

Thank you, I am glad you like the compromise I made with her hair. I'm not certain her hair is incapable of growing ever again, I just don't think it will ever grow back blond and magical if cut. But perhaps she just likes it short, I wonder if she'll ever try it (relative to normal) long again. The upcoming Tangled series seems to imply she will have her hair long and blond again, as seen in this pic disney.wikia.com/wiki/Tangled_… and it's supposed to be set between the movie and Tangled Ever After, so if she grows it back, she cuts it again before her wedding. I know the princess line with the dolls and parks and other merchandise try to imply her hair eventually retained her magic and grew back. So who knows about the show.
Thanks for the fave though.

Hmm. Well, it certainly did seem to me in the movie that her hair would at least grow very slowly (the piece she showed Flynn from when she was a baby was still quite short and I doubt she or Gothel would have kept cutting it and risk hurting the rest of her hair) and most definitely stay brown. i0.wp.com/www.caps.media/201/0… To make her hair super long and blond in the TV show when it is supposed to take place in between seems like the complete opposite of something that should happen considering it was short and brown at the end of the movie and short and brown in Tangled Ever After.
I certainly wouldn't be opposed to them deciding to have it grow a little (although I kind of like having more than one Disney Princess with short hair, considering all of the others have long hair and they always merchandise Punzie with long hair anyway), but I would definitely be opposed to them having it golden again. Having it be blond again would be completely contradicting what they set up in both the movie and the short (since it is very evident that in not even 18 years did her hair turn golden again where it was cut and her original hair color is actually brown), and to have her hair gain it's magical properties again for absolutely no reason (she doesn't need it, it's evident that her tears can still heal) would add an extra layer of darkness to the first film because it would mean that Mother Gothel emotionally manipulated and abused Punzie for 18 years for literally no reason which is worse than what was presented in the original film.
The merchandise probably isn't trying to imply anything but rather just wants to market her with long blond hair because people find that more beautiful than brown and like long hair over short. At first they would also be trying to avoid spoilers as well, since merch started coming out before the movie was even released. If you were able to buy short brown haired merch or merch with short brown hair on the packaging right away then it would ruin the scene where Flynn cuts her hair for those who are unfamiliar with the original fairy tale.

Hmm, yeah, you're right about the hair thing, it wouldn't have grown again since it was cut when she was young. But perhaps once ALL the magic was gone from her hair, any magic keeping it short left and it began to act as normal hair again, and thus could grow again and not be incapable of growing her whole life.
Yeah, well, we might have to to wait and see what the TV show will do, they might have a reason for why her hair is long and blond again. I'm not sure if that picture will be a factual representation of the characters as they intend to appear in the show, or just convenient representations of the characters based on the movie design to be represented as stand ins. Until the show is a lot closer to premiering and we get some actual preview clips, we wont' know for sure.
I guess I'm fine if they keep it short and brown, but I personally like long hair, its just something I find more attractive and appealing in women, and I often find the short hair the opposite, unattractive and unappealing. It is just a personal preferences, and like all things we like or dislike, it's not something one controls, it just is.
Who knows, it might not turn gold again on its own, something might force it out temporarily again, but be absent (or rejected) again by the time of the wedding. Also, nothing says it's magical again either, just that its blond. It might be odd, but maybe the visual representation of them, without any of the powers behind them, came back.
The thing is, I don't think Mother Gothel's Manipulation had to do solely with just keeping her hair safe, but it keeping its source all to her self. She didn't just want to make sure her hair wasn't cut, but also made sure she had fast and ready access to the power in her hair. She couldn't just keep sneaking into the castle to steal magic from Rapunzel's hair, so she had to kidnap her.
I am kind of not seeing your point on why her hair turning blond again, for whatever reason, makes Rapunzel's ordeal worse/meaningless, perhaps you'll have to explain it to me more, as for now, I am really not seeing it even after you pointed it out.
Well, for things like theme Park appearances, since they often try to tout the characters as being post movie, they explained, according to statements, that Rapunzel's hair eventually grew back long and blond as a side effect of the magic flower reasserting itself (perhaps it had to all be gone before it would come back, hence why the single strand never regrew), but I just remember reading this online somewhere, it might not have been a real official statement. To be fair, nothing said it retained its magical powers (healing and glowing after the incantation song), just that it was back to being long and blond.
Again, sorry if this upset you in some way. I was just mainly hypothesizing about what I like and think, and I'm not really sure at all what the show will hold, only what that one preview pic shows. Heck, new theory, maybe it's just a long blond wig, and she wears it just for fun. Who knows.

Oh yeah, Mother Gothel wanted it to herself as well, that's a for sure thing. Although, I think kidnapping Rapunzel also had a bit of a revenge/spiteful twist to it as well. It would allow her to have quick easy access to the magic, keep it safe and was also a way of punishing the people who were responsible from taking the flower from her in the first place (you take my precious thing, I take yours) [although it was probably mostly for reasons 1 and 2].
I didn't really explain myself properly with the worsening of her ordeal thing. It was more to do with having the magic of her hair return that having it be blond, and it was more so from Rapunzel's perspective of it being worse. Rapunzel's whole life she believed that Gothel loved her like a true mother and was doing her best to protect her and keep her and her hair safe as she believed strangers had tried to cut and steal her hair when she was a baby. When she journeyed outside she realized her mom was just being "over protective" and highly exaggerating the horrors and dangers of the outside world, but knowing the danger to her hair thought it was for good reason. Once Gothel captured her after she realized her identity and stabbed Eugene, Rapunzel would have realized that her mother cared mostly about her hair and keeping it safe and to herself, however she would probably have still believed that her mother loved her (and she still loved Gothel as evidenced by her outstretched arms when Gothel went out the window and was rapidly aging) and was still trying to keep her (and her hair) safe. Even after realizing that her mother was not a great person (and was in fact pretty terrible), she still would have believed that her mother was keeping her and her hair safe and protected, and with good reason. If her hair regained it's magic after being cut, it would bring insult to injury for her because it would bring home the fact that her entire life up until she was 18 was not just a lie, but also pointless. She was abused so much to keep the hair safe (to the point that she honestly believed that she stayed in the tower of her own volition) and from losing it's magic that to find out it would have returned anyway would just drive home that fact that her imprisonment was for nothing since the magic would have returned anyway. Rapunzel would be forced to realize that the mother she loved for 18 years cared more about her hair than her, wasn't really her mother, was a bad person, that she was actually abused for all that time and that the whole reason she put up with all of that was now without reason since her hair would just become magical again anyway.
I have no problem with her hair growing a bit, and I would even be OK with her somehow getting long blond hair again even if it would be a little nonsensical considering the rules they established in the movie (and seemed to reinforce with Tangled Ever After), but it have it be magical again would probably rub me to wrong way.
At the theme parks they kind of deus ex machina it and the actresses will come up with answers such as her tears being magical enough to fix her hair or the magic of the parks itself or pixie dust from the parks and the fairies there, but really they were just looking for an excuse to have her be blond again because that's how they merchandise her and how she spends the majority of her movie. I don't think they even have one cohesive answer as stated by Disney but that the actresses themselves think up and give their own variations and answers. Because of that, I'm not even sure if the Disney Parks answers even count.
You didn't upset me at all, I just wanted to voice my opinion is all. Sorry if I made you think I was upset in some way. I'm totally not

Hmm, you might be right about a small bit of that being the spite for loosing her flower, but it is mostly just to gain it back and keep it to herself.
Hmm, well, now I finally understand what you mean now that you got it back. I guess it all depends on how Rapunzel feels deep down, especially after having some time to think about it. I'm not sure if in the end, Rapunzel would care about the fact whether Gothel kept her hair safe or not when all the rest of the reasons why were properly revealed. While she valued its gift, if she knew the truth about it, she might reject it since that was the whole reason she was kidnapped, isolated and lied to. If Flynn hadn't cut Rapunzel's hair first, Rapunzel might have cut it herself if given a chance to free herself from it and Gothel's grasp on her. Whether or not knowing ahead of time it would instantly kill Gothel might cause her to hesitate, but she might no longer care after a while if she's been in captivity long enough. Of course, there was the fact that Rapunzel made a promise to stay if she let her heal Eugene, but if not for that, she would most likely willing loose her hair's magic as a means of escape.
Honestly, I don't think we can really predict how she would feel about Gothel in the end. I think objectively, she would realize Gothel was horrible, she was selfish, greedy, deceitful manipulative, murderous and cruel, so obviously she would understand she deserved her fate. But for a long time, she was a mother figure, so she might have a hard time letting go of positive feelings she had for her even though she knows she shouldn't have them. But I am not sure the idea that Gothel protecting her hair's power from the outfit world, being the one positive thing in her whole captivity, would be something Rapunzel would care about nor would she think it was cheapened if her hair returned.
The thing is, her whole life would not have been 'pointless' if her hair had been cut and been able to just regrow on her own. If someone had cut her hair earlier, Gothel would have probably died anyway. Rapunzel would then leave the tower, and if it did just grow back on its own, she would have reason to know that Gothel had good reason to protect her hair, as she was protecting her own life by protecting the flower, and assuming she didn't realize the truth about her kidnapping, she would realize that her mother was only trying to stay alive, something Rapunzel would not think of as pointless.
Yes, there is the point that her hair is also a 'gift' and protecting it as long as she did was a good thing. But considering the cost her 'gift' had on her life and the life of her parents, I think she would have been glad to be rid of it from the start if it meant she could have grown up with her parents, the reason she met Eugene in the first place not withstanding. She might think so little of her gift and the toll that it took on her, that the fact that Gopthel protecting it was the one good thing might mean nothing to her, and its return couldn't cheapen that aspect because that aspect was in no way positive to her.
The point is, emotions and how someone might feel given certain circumstances, are very unpredictable, and I think we both have very viable outcomes for the results given the reasons we have.
Now, another thing is I never said time could be the only reason her hair gained its power back. It could be any number of external, possibly magical outside sources. If she was subject to an external magical source, it wouldn't quite be the same, and Gothel would still have reason to protect her hair from others, since she wouldn't have access or knowledge of that source to restore the magic.
Hmm, here is an odd theory. Perhaps Rapunzel's mother might be a key to why the hair returned and prolonged contact with her was the reason why. After all, Rapunzel's mother was the one who drank the elixir made from the magic flower, so it makes sense some lingering magic might be in her as well and didn't all go into her daughter. Perhaps the magic still in her might serve as a spark that caused her hair to grow again. Gothel might not understand any of the rules of the flower anyway. All she knows is that when she cut a strand, it turned brown and lost its power, so she made sure it never got cut again. Since she separated Rapunzel from her mother, she might not have known what would have happened if she regained contact.
It's probably not what's going to happen, but it's a theory. Honestly, we still just have to wait for the series to debut in 2 years from now and find out if they have a good explanation or not. Also, there might be a very good reason a the end why she cut it again.
And yeah, the reasons the theme park actors give is in no way canon or official, it's just something they say, and probably not at all relevant to the show's timeline. It might not just be made up on the spot, but something the park itself came up with as an official response, but it is something that isn't important official continuity at all.
Alright, I'm glad you're not upset then.
