...I can always go on an odyssey! Super mario 64 and sunshine, much like sonic adventure 1+2, were games I grew up with as a kid and still cherish to this day for various reasons. Those two mario games, much like the two sonic games I mentioned, were radically different from the newer games in the series and some fans decided to say a message along the lines of "3D land/world are good games but I kind of wish we could get another sandbox-type mario game again"...and Nintendo seems to of delivered! While I'm not implying that sega absolutely has a responsibility to do the same for adventure fans, I WILL say that I'd very much love them to do their own odyssey.In terms of whether they should, this all goes back to whether it is truly wise to satisfy the fans. Some of us like me think it could potentially benefit everyone but others think the fan base will be divided further if such a thing (making games for all the different sub sections of the fan base as long as they make enough money)ever happens...personally I'd be willing to trade fan base stability just to have sega's version of super mario odyssey because I think such a game, if executed correctly, could potentially be legendary.
This spicy meme isn't necessarily slagging off sega for not making an adventure 3 but rather two other things...
1. Saying I'd personally like to see such a sonic game in the future
2. Saying what I'm going to do about it potentially not happening....my solution is to just play the games that cater to my desires rather than get angry online like I have done in the past. I'm not saying or even implying others should do the same though...they're free to use their free speech as a consumer however they please.

I think the silent majority LOVES edgy content since, if it's done right, it's basically the absolute best content in all of gaming, due to appeal and atmosphere! It just gets you pumped to play the game knowing we can pretend to be a badass instead of ourselves!

I can get behind what you're saying as I've already said in my post that Odyssey is the risk Sega isn't willing to take. Not necessarily for Sonic Adventure but at least a game in the same vain would be a huge welcome as what we're getting today is classic pandering that spills into other parts of the franchise. We get Mania and Forces two games that are supposed to set out and do different things only they're trying to show us the same thing.

I've checked out some sonic adventure footage as you suggested me to do yesterday, the camera controls and the graphics have aged awfully but the gameplay looks great! I would love if sega remade or rebooted that series with modern graphics and proper controls, even if I didn't get to play them! The levels seemed to have few enemies but the speed was there and it looked amazing, I can barely imagine how cool it would be to have a new game like that with better level design and a rolling mechanic!

That's what I want as well. The reason I keep referring to odyssey is because it not only takes what people loved in past games and brings it back in hd 60fps but also expands upon the core game play. I'd reckon a modern day adventure game, without the incredibly poorly aged parts, could be interesting. Lost world imo was a step in the right direction but the lack of momentum physics made it "feel like mario" according to some people cough IGN cough. Unfortunately sega was so scared off by these "professional reviewers" that they completely abandoned lost world's formula (for now at least). A sonic sub series with a focus on platforming and parkour, combined with the trick system from adventure two, could've been epic but unfortunately sega keeps giving IGN power over them.
I think if sonic is to improve they need to stop taking sites like IGN seriously...barely anyone else does these days.

I think it will eventually happen, and if it doesn't some fan or indie game studio will make their own version which won't feature sonic to avoid copyright issues but it will feel exactly like what we expect from such a sonic game, I personally hope sega does this itself because if the second scenario becomes true the hypothetical indie studio or fan will steal the fanbase tired of waiting for sega to react, not that I don't want indie studios to earn themselves a fanbase, I just would feel bad for Sega if they let go such a part of their fanbase just for not wanting to adapt...
Whichever scenario happens first it will probably satisfy the fanbase, unless it's a horrible flop like mighty no.9, which was also an attempt to imitate an old game franchise and improve it with modern game design and new mechanics.

While it could definitely flop I still think it's a risk worth taking. I'd be making it myself if I wasn't working on my metroid game.

I think so too, the only way it could flop harder than modern sonic games is if the pretty much sabotaged themselves, in which case I guess it still could be ironically good as in so bad it's good. XD
I bet someone is already trying to do something similar, even if they are just doing it as a hobby and don't actually plan to release it.

Pretty much. Both sets of games from mario and sonic are essentially my childhood and while it's a shame I can't sequels to have both I'll take what I can get at this point. Also, the fact that odyssey even has a semi realistic city with humans (something sonic games these days don't have but used to proudly show off) is pretty good evidence imo it'll be an interesting game.
