Dinar87 — Making my game slightly more Original

Description Removed the map hud and made my doors like different from metroid's doors.

Now I know this isn't doesn't make my game better mechanically, but it does make things more interesting for me to play personally...what do you guys think?

No problem mimicking well-known existing game. One can learn something from doing so and gain technical experience then go further with his/her own idea.

There isn't a problem as you said, it's just I personally would find it more interesting to make a game that manages to balance originality and feeling like metroid. I don't think an 'enchanted portals' or 'gleemlight' situation would make for a interesting game imo.

Yeah I'm trying to give my game it's own identity without ruining why me and you guys like it already.

Basically don't expect my game to turn into an anime dating simulator any time soon or anything crazy like that

If you love the look of your game, then go for it.
I like both versions, although I'm not really a fan of the moving wall tiles personally.

However, any platformer in space is going to get hated on for "ripping off Metroid" no matter how different or original it is.
There will be haters, and they will be illogical.
So....dab on the haters? Or whatever.

Don't worry I'm no longer trying to make my game more original out of fear that my game will get criticized for "not being original enough". Instead I'm doing it because I actually want to do this and I think it'd make things more interesting for me if my game was less directly related to metroid it's for fun

I've actually started working on my own game.
It's definitely a Zelda fan-game, but I'm trying to make as much of it my own work when I can.
Hoping to implement some survival mechanics for a hard/master/nightmare mode, whatever you want to call it.
Hunger, Thirst, Sleep, etc.
Currently the map is 491 screens in size. Each screen is 28 times longer than the player, and 16 times taller.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Tears.
Basic plot is, after Twilight Princess, the Zora believe Princess Zelda to have given herself to darkness when she gives
her power to Midna, the princess of Twilight. The Zora decide that the Hylians can no longer be trusted and fight back.

Sorry for late reply but it sounds cool, though the name sounds a bit dark! Why would "tears" be in the title specifically?

Yeah, I've posted some gameplay already. Still need to implement more GUI and other things.

The name is mostly because of alliteration and needing a water focus.
Since it takes place immediately after Twilight Princess, I wanted a name that used "Twilight".
And Twilight Princess was a pretty dark game, so no surprises that mine would be either.
