haha small view looks prettier. x3Maybe I should stop doing quickies that stop being quickies.

Chikiyo looking at them clouds. I was experimenting a bit, seeing if I remembered how to do that effect from my Any Other Day ID, and I think it turned out decently. I like the clouds.
AND I FEEL TOTALLY AWESOME. I DID A GRASS BRUSH. Which you can tell since the grass looks totally repetitive BUTTTT it works. c: in paint, which is awesome. I'm going to make a set probably, so I can get lazy, because who HAS the energy to make thousands of lines with the bezier?... just saying.
I'm in love with my chars right now, going to make group pics -gasp- sometime later c:
oh and I'm not sure if it's night or day either... xD
EDIT: I should stop drawing backshots ;o; I've started doodling them ALL THE TIME but then you won't see the pretty FACE markings!

haha, hi there! yeah, I used to only use MS Paint back when I drew this, and I'm still really attached to it. is there anything in particular you'd like pointers on? otherwise I have an old-as-sin tutorial here [link] , which while not all that helpful in terms of art does make an attempt of explaining the tools.

i kinda want tips on shading and backgrounds

I think the best way you can learn backgrounds is to try to mimic what you see. try to draw the background before the character and draw the things that are the furthest away first, and keep building/layering until you reach the foreground. look at lots of tutorials, and don't limit yourself to tutorials meant for MS paint - you can learn a lot of interesting things about colour and techniques that you can try to adapt to whatever program you're in, just keep your eyes open and get creative!
shading is hard to explain in any succinct way, but the same thing applies there, I think, in try to look at references and mimic things and just keep practising. try to shade with colour! not just a darker shade of whatever colour you're using on the character. I've tried shading with greens and purples and blues and even yellow and it can have a very interesting effect.
keep in mind the colour wheel - reds and oranges make things look warm, blues and purples make it look cooler. this can have an effect on shading and help tie the character into the background; using a colour directly from the background as a shading colour can really help tie the character and the background together.
that's some really general tips, I know, but I don't want to tell you HOW to do it so much as just what to keep in mind. I hope it helps some, and good luck with arting. c:

And as the others have said, the black lines really stick out of the pic and it bothers me, just that it looks kinda weird.
ANyway, the abckground is really great! I love how you made the sun and the clouds, the lightning from it is really great! I love how you made it flew in the air, if you get what i mean.
And the shading is awesome as always. <3 so.. oh and the grass as really smart of you to make a brush of it x3
So, the only wrongs things is the line art, and head form. oh and now I see, you should have done more forms of the back and longer aslo. In my opinion ofc (:
