Description The third drawing in short series of "Godzilla II" (can't wait to see it!) deviations.

Since the Godzilla 2014 sequel (which is coming out in 2018) had been confirmed a few months ago, I decided to draw some concept art of the three classic Godzilla movie monsters (Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah) who are going to be revived in the upcoming film. I decided to depict a Legendary-style King Ghidorah as the second-to-last monster in the 2018 movie because he may be, of course, the main antagonist of that very film.

Much of his design is heavily influenced by Smaug from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. My apologies if the head design is much too reminiscent of that of Smaug himself.  I still think Smaug is badass, though! Anyway, I also utilized some elements of previous Ghidorah incarnations, just to remind you of the old "three-headed golden dragon from outer space". For example, the "horns" on Ghidorah's skulls, the row of spines running down each neck, and the gigantic wings. However, I don't believe King Ghidorah should originate in outer space in the 2018 film, because that would need a lot of explanations. Instead, I speculate that he would originate in prehistoric times, around the same time that many individuals of Gojiras, Rodans, and Mothras existed.

Ghidorahs would be like the alpha predators of that time (before dinosaurs evolved), preying on the many other gigantic animals in their world and of course feeding on radiation seeping through cracks in the earth (it was a common food source for of all these creatures). However, when radiation began to disappear from the earth in vast quantities, these kaiju began to adapt to thrive deep underground or in the oceans, where they could absorb any surrounding radiation through their skin. Ghidorahs then probably began to die out in huge numbers since their main food source and prey started to vanish. King Ghidorah, in my mind being the last of his kind, evaded death by burying himself underground for many millions of years, until his prey reawakened and caused destruction across Earth in the present day, giving him the perfect opportunity to awaken and kill off his rivals...

Above was just my speculation on how a bit of the plot of "Godzilla 2" could go down. But anyway, I hope you Godzilla fanatics on DeviantArt will enjoy this! I hope this worth the wait!
