Description
"The Trouble with Troguls!" is one of two possible options for the first boss fight in story mode. The stage starts with a normal battle with Ultra-V, then transitions into a boss encounter with the titular Troguls: a group of eight, small enemies who share a single healthbar.
Individually the Troguls are not too different from normal opponents, roaming the map freely rather than attacking in patterns and having circular health indicators over their head. As mentioned, however, there is also a standard Boss healthbar at the bottom of the screen, which represents their combined health. All eight Troguls must be killed to fully deplete it.
The Troguls are fast, hyperactive opponents with a penchant for climbing and causing destruction. They will frequently pick up objects, either to use directly as weapons, to throw at buildings, or to carelessly devour. Despite having superior numbers they do not usually use it to their advantage, instead acting selfishly and sometimes even fighting amongst themselves. Most of their behavior is chaos for the sake of chaos, but as the player thins their numbers the survivors will gradually catch on and start to think more strategically.
More importantly, however, each Trogul will enter a vicious, hyper-aware state once half of its health has been removed. These frenzied Troguls move even faster than normal and deal more damage, making them a more prominent threat than their untransformed brethren. It is thus advised to try lowering their numbers one at a time, as sending multiple Troguls into this enraged state can end in disaster.
Once an individual Trogul's health reaches zero, it will swell up and pop in a disgusting, slimy explosion. Popping all eight ends the encounter, prompting a cutscene of the last Trogul panicking before it ruptures messily at the player monster's feet.

Yep, Gremlins and all the other, similar films that took off in their wake (like Critters and Ghoulies)!
