Description
Frilled RaptorScientific Name: Austrovenator nimiae
Height: 3'8" at the hips
Length: 15 ft.
Weight: 200 lbs
Habitat: Scrublands, deserts, rainforests, grasslands, and some wetlands
Region: Oceania
Ancestor: frilled lizard
The frilled raptor is a large, bipedal lizard. Like their ancestors, they possess a large, colorful frill around their neck which can extend outward to make the lizard seem larger than it actually is.
Males are generally larger than females and tend to be more dominant. Frilled raptors lie in packs of usually 10 breeding adults and 10-20 non-breeding individuals. The dominant male mates with all unrelated females and the rest are either his children or subordinates. Any subordinates who get in the way are killed or chased out.
The pack hunts in units: one group will sneak around the prey and create either a panic(driving them toward the rest of the pack) or a distraction (so the others can sneak up on their flanks, or past them to get at something they want such as eggs or young). Their primary prey includes wombats, marsupial otters, and macroswans.

This guy is awesome. They remind me of the " dilophosaurus " from Jurassic park.
they must be very smart in order to hunt in packs

It's very rudimentary intelligence. Basically, they know basic pack tactics and not much more. Though I think that's still smarter than most lizards.
