Does this thing just sit around and wait for you to shoot it and explode, or will it defend itself by shooting projectiles at you? THAT'S what I call an armed bomb.

Maybe bosses could be malware or pirated programs? I can see you fighting a boss that's a pirated video game filled with viruses, kind of like the boss being the stage or something.

Another question: will this game be in sequential stages ala Mario, or will it be a Metroid-like game with a massive map to explore?

It drifts towards you within swarms of smaller logic bombs. Its their numbers and unpredictable explosions that make them dangerous.

There will be regular enemy viruses and also bosses.

Few hours per animation, greatly varying depending on how complex it is. This Logic Bomb will take a long time because I want to animate it both floating around and blinking, and looking all over the place.

Later I shall make it EXPLODE.

lol anyway i was just wondering if you take a short look at this sprite i made in my gallery. It's called masquerade ghost. How long do you think it would take for made to do maybe a 5 or 6 frame animation for floating,and claw movement?

That really depends on you and how good your animation software is, so I can't say. Give it a shot, the more you animate, the faster you get.
