Description
This is a picture that I took during my visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. I was attracted by the lines that the stairs offered, and while i was preparing the composition, the man started going up the stairs, just in time for me to compose him and press the shutter. What's the message behind this? well, a message for this could be that you can never be too old to "step up" and keep improving. Proof of this is the people in their 60s who go to colleges, among other examples. If you think of another possible message for this picture, then you are more than welcome to share it.

Double thumbs up!!! Amazing work.
Someone suggested the theme of "climbing from darkness into light". I like this, but would stress more the symbolism of the journey... he climbs from darkness to light, yes, but at the very top of the stairs on the left shadow begins to fall again, perhaps another plunge to darkness. But always the stairs continue, from dark to light and back again...

Quite lovely. I especially like how you've used the railing to naturally divide the piece too, and the darkness on the right hand side. It's almost like stepping into the light from the dark.

At first glance, I couldn't tell if he was going up or down. I could see that as being a message, "Even if you're not sure where you're going, you're getting somewhere."
Your message is pretty neat too, that it's never too late to try things. I see people all the time learning something new. My mom's in her forties (oops, but don't tell her I said that. ) and I'm always teaching her new stuff that I learn at school or on my own...And she's always teaching me of course.
This is a nicely composed shot. I love the lines all over the place, and the way you have it tilted so the stairs aren't apparently going any way (at first glance, like I mentioned.) I love the lighting, especially on the left part, where it gets brighter on the way down. I don't know that I'd have left the little black triangle at the upper left, but the more I stare at it, the more it seems to fit. And the person just totally goes well right there, lucky you caught that.

or you can say that to get trough in life you gotta step up and walk up those neverending stairs so you can get somewhere and be a little closer to the top

nice lines, but i think it could use some cropping. it almost looks like an optical illusion.

sorry, i didn't mean to say that it wasn't. i just meant that you might be able to make it more like an optical illusion if you cropped it. the less that people know about what they're looking at, the more they have to use their imagination.

i think those stairs are amazing... are they wooden and crafted like that or is that like a sticker for traction?
i really like the composition and its angle
the meaning you give is very nice
hmm well step up could also mean to pay respec for elders... rise above steroetypes about older people and not knowing things..
step up - wise up in the sense of gaining knowledge and wisdom and experience [ older people tend to be more of these than younger people
]
very nice umhmm ^_^

Yea, Ive always liked the way when you look down huge flights of stairs like that you can see way down to the bottom floor, even from the top. Its a great view you took of this and the man just ads to it. Nice shot diny.

is "stairs can look pretty photogenic" a valid message? sometimes beauty can be found in even the most overlooked of things.

I love the line... It entrances me...
I'll be going to the Met soon, I hope. I'll have to look at the stairs more closely.

Wonderful capture here diny. The lines are terrific, contrast lovely and the man really adds a nice feel to this piece. He makes me feel happy, like he still raring to find adventure even though he looks to be getting on in years. Well done.
