We all have our weak points (which we keep behind the bookshelves).
There is a certain repertoire of light music that I love, but with full consciousness. I even like some melodies from commercials.
Finally, I am very sentimental person.

Indeed, my friend, true emotion and melodic of Italian pop music for me is mitigating the knowledge that such music does not necessarily have to be quite vulgar. Certain Americanization of your popular music from the 1950s onwards is something that is not so good, but despite that so far that impact has been skillfuly (vitally) transformed. It seems that only recently Italian pop music began to lose its traditional identity (?). The problem is not so much in the simplicity of this music as much in its commercialization.
Popular music (street music, music from vaudeville, peasant's music...) is a phenomenon that I am also interested in cultural terms. For example, I would very much like to know this music from XIX. century from Italy, France, England, Spain... but I do not have access to these recordings. It seems to me that this music was much better than the disgusting bourgeois classical compositions of the XIX. century (of classical music I love only early Baroque and one since the beginning of the twentieth century).

I'm not quite fond of Italian music with some exceptions, basically because i'm more for blues driven sounds (thing absent in Italian melodies). One remarkable Italian singer and song-writer i adore is Fabrizio DeAndrΓ© [link] and talking about european folk music i like very much also the French Georges Brassens, but that's pretty normal considering the influence the latter gave to the former.
If you enjoy Vaudeville you'll probably like one of my favourite band: the Bonzo Dog doo-dah band!
Also i suggest you the Purple Gang, a very unique psychedelic jugband from the '60s!

I Fabrizio DeAndrΓ©.
For many years I didn't know for him, but I was curious who is the singer of hit "Andrea" (1978.).
About these bands, I'll try to get something of them.

Have you ever heard Georges Brassens?
De AndrΓ© took a lot of inspiration from him and made some translation in italian from his songs. Most notably "Il Gorilla", "Le Passanti", "Morire per delle idee", "Nell'acqua della chiara fontana", and other are originally Brassens' songs in french.

Yes, and I love him too, but I don't have records of his songs.
