How about printing out the color version and clicking a photo of it? It'll probably give a better effect for the printed preview and one print will hardly cost anything.

And I still don't think it works in one color... The multicolored logo is actually really good, why don't you stick to it? Instead of trying to force it to work in one color, work with what you have and try different backgrounds or some other variations
