messing around with a new character idea. (note that im ignoring the fact that she-cats in positions of power arent supposed to have kits cause its stupid lol)
anyway this is hiddenstep, and she’s a living ghost.
i’m not really sure which clan she’s in, im thinking windclan? her mother is skypath, the medicine cat. so basically, decades before firestar first joined thunderclan, skypath had, over the course of her life, lost nearly everyone whom she cared for: her parents, her siblings, close friends, mate, the other kits in hiddenstep’s litter. as such, when hiddenstep was born and her littermates had died, skypath cursed starclan and vowed that they shall never have her last living loved one.
when hiddenstep was a young apprentice, she was hit by a monster and killed on impact. however, as a spirit, she couldn’t leave her body, so she couldn’t do anything except wait next to it and be guided to starclan. no one came for her. eventually, after a long while, she returned to her body and, suddenly, woke up. not good as new, she was battered and bruised with a couple broken bones, but the fatal injuries which had killed her had completely healed. she was alive again. after the incident, she was too shaken to tell anyone, even skypath.
hiddenstep is technically immortal, although not invulnerable, evidently; she can still be hurt and killed. her mother had inadvertently cursed her so that no starclan cat could find hiddenstep, whether she was dead or alive. she could still grow old and die from old age, but when she returns to her body, it ages back several moons, so she isn’t on a loop of constant death from old age; poison is cured, crushed organs repaired. even committing suicide doesn’t break the curse.
eventually, almost unaffected by the passage of time, hiddenstep could only watch as everyone she knows eventually moves on and dies, including her mom skypath. heartbroken and horrified, hiddenstep runs away from the clans and lives on her own. no one from starclan can contact her and guide her to silverpelt. skypath, reunited with the rest of her family, tried, over and over, to get to her daughter, but it was in vain. even she couldn’t find hiddenstep.
to this day, hiddenstep still travels the woods, following the clans’ path, from the forest through the mountains to the lake, too grief-stricken to return but too scared to leave. hoping that, one day, she can find a way to break this curse and finally join her family and friends in starclan…
