Abbeywood Axer Strikes Again - Young Teenager found dead in Serial Killer Hot-Spot

fuck. Fuck. FUck. FUCK! I do my best to keep my face straight as I read the paper (I’m out in public after all) my hands already writing the message on my phone,

That was supposed to be my kill,

CC: You’re too slow, too careful, I got bored of waiting

Being careful is how you avoid getting caught so you can, y’know, NOT go to prison, asshat

CC: Oh come on, you’re not even trying. Remember the rules, if I overtake you, I get to kill you. It’s already 8-5.

I really hate this bastard; I was doing a great job of being a serial killer (with a suitably boring day job), killing those who I felt deserved it and who generally made the world a better place; that was until, this copy-cat showed up and decided to start screwing with my ratios. A meticulous person by nature, you can imagine my infuriation at have some hap-hazard copy cat… why did he have to choose me?

If you’re truly a copy-cat then you’d play by my rules, anything else is just an egoist. Egoists end up as criminals, eventually and thus ultimately end up on my table.

CC: You wish.

This prick appeared out of nowhere, right after I’d made my sixth kill and the police finally caught on, in strolls this pleased-as-punch wannabe trying to steal my limelight. He’s reckless, sloppy and kills nothing like I do. Still, he made sure to leave enough differences that the police caught on and recognised the copy cat - but only with a sort of fifty percent accuracy. Just enough to make me look like some sloppy, saw-it-on-tv-killer.

I did my best scare him off at the earlier opportunity - I mean honestly, weren’t there better ways of claiming your fame than being some partially-inept body double of some medium sized, centrally located city serially killer?

CC: Knock, knock

I sigh heavily before rising from my desk to yank open the door,

“That last kill was completely circumstantial!” I snap, “Killing that kid and leaving both the evidence of the kill and the body behind was moronic and you know it!”

“Oh, come on, you’re getting boring! Arsehole disappearing is a., arseholes disappearing and the police noticing is b., the police noticing and being able to do fuck all about it is c., so what is stage d.?”

“…” I simply stare at him with murder in my eyes… which, I guess, isn’t all that threatening considering how many people I’ve killed already,

“Wake up, Axer, I gave you a bit of showmanship — the police department didn’t know what the fuck as happening until I showed up and blew their theories out of the water. You were probably three or four kills away from either getting caught or trapping yourself in a corner, but now, I’ve opened up a whole new world. Work isn’t worth anything unless you have competition,”

“How very capitalist of you, tell me, Mr Copy Cat, do you kill just because you know it’s irritating the fuck out of someone else or is it more—”

A sudden banging on the door sounded like the furled warning call of a body-armoured police about bust some gone-to-ground killer.

“Mal, it’s me,” A harsh whisper calls, I’m quick to open the door and even my Copy Cat relaxes, well, it was indeed a policeman and we are serial killers, but we aren’t hiding and he isn’t about to arrest us.

“How’re you doing, Ross?” I ask whilst he closes the door, sets his hands to his hips and stared at the both of us like we’re five year olds getting caught raiding the sweet tin,

“One or other of you is getting sloppy, I can't cover for two inept serial killers, for fuck’s sake!”
