“Try this,” His familiar, deep voice had her trusting implicitly; her hands felt awkwardly around the contraption as he helped her fit it to her head. The sudden brightness of her artificial eyes made her cringe but she soon began to adjust – her mouth falling open slightly as the world became awash with things she didn’t know and colours she could barely remember the names of, for so long had she been blinded.
“What do you think?” She turned to look at him, for the first time, speechless for a moment,
“You...look even older than I thought you would!”

Haha, that got a chuckle out of me. Here, you have the reader expecting some sort of emotional moment, only to be dashed by the most rude response she could have managed. XD
