I have been working on this on and off for a couple of months and is my first attempt at painting mechanical elements. I took inspiration from Elysium for the overall silhouette of the platinum exo-suit, and from steam trains and steampunk mechanisms to actually fill in the details.
I was hoping to get this finished before the new season of Korra started but it all happened very quickly. After watching the second episode of book 4 I feel there is still room for another secret story that took place some time during Korra's 3 year time-out that nobody except Asami ever knew about.

Actually it's based on the Exos from the movie Elysium.
Although the advanced warfare ones make more sense... there's no real reason why it would need to be screwed into your skeleton. Just stepping into a frame and tightening some straps would be enough. That's how DARPA's real-life Exo prototypes work, very similar to the ones in Advanced Warfare.

Elysium doesn't get nearly enough attention on DA, so it was definitely my intention to crossover Elysium-style steampunk mecha and Korra.

I'm so happy you're syked about the back story, I really wish they would! I kinda hoped that Korra would have to deal with her injuries a little longer in the season so far though... and thank-you so much for all the love, and yeah, if only we were able to make money from fan art
You can enlarge the image and save it to your computer, the image size on here is the original (4k) I am however working on a landscape version for a wallpaper ATM, if you wanted that instead.

Thank-you, this piece was supposed to be a sort of matte painting, I photobashed the background (obviously I had to add destruction to the buildings), everything else, including Korra, was painted from scratch. I used photo textures for the blood, bandages and grit on the mecha suit. The detail on the skin was painted using Jonas De Ro's awesome pore brush from his brush pack.
