I just discovered your compact train layout and it really is amazing. Β I can't understand Β how the track is really laid out as it disappears and reappears it is hard to tell which track is going up and which part of the track is going down. Β It appears that a small portion of the track that is hidden is directly above the track below. Β It is hard to tell based on your layout markings on the base board. Β Please help!
Regards,
Dave

Well it was deliberately designed to be confusing, as there a 12 tunnel entrance/exits. I built it and even I looked at the wrong tunnel exit when waiting for the train to reappear
Here is a link to a newΒ pic that hope will explain all: dirgriz.deviantart.com/art/N-gβ¦

Unbelieveable work! When I first saw this picture, I thought it's a pretty good H0 layout, but for N size, it's absolutely fantastic! I can't believe you put so many details in this small scale.

many thanks, it was part of my plan that you would have to see it a good few times to notice all the details, and from other angles.
I have other pictures showing different parts up close, I could dig them out and post them here if you like?

Of course I'd like to see them, and I'm sure many other people would do too.

Cheers, I find the trick is to avoid uniformity; keep it looking natural, almost chaotic, and not cultivated or forming a pattern.
