Description Engine One was delivered to HFD in March of 2003 to fill a much-needed gap after the towns previous engine 1 had been taken out of service in Fall of 2002.  The previous unit, a 1981 Ford CF8000 Pumper was damaged on a roadside accident along the A13 in Geiranger after being plowed into by a semi-truck when the driver became drowsy and slammed into the back of the unit. E1 was providing mutual aid for a roadside semi-trailer fire at the time of the incident. The driver of the semi-truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries while two Hasvik Fire Fighters were treated for minor issues. A spare rig was donated by the Trondheim Fire Department to help the community fill the role the former engine one served until a replacement could be purchased. The town secured a grant from the Government going into November to purchase the new apparatus, eventually leading to the delivery of two new engines by the end of 2004 and Car One to replace the 1992 Ford Crown Victoria that had been serving in its roll.

21 years later the community is looking to have the unit replaced once again as the Engine has begun to show its age. Ideally the town would like to replace it with a brand-new rig, but as you will hear over and over again, the budget does not allow for it. No current replacement has been found for E1 as of May 2024.
