I like to mix a realistic shape and proportion with more cartoony colours and shades. If you go on my homepage you can see the sketch this is being made to replicate.

Another little thing I do is texture the body (not done the wings yet, those have a lot more detail still to be added) that just roughens the shading a little and stops making it look like it's made outta plastic.

I've been working on this for the last week, and it'll probably take me another to get it finished. I need to redo all of the hair still and the tail needs a redesign from the sketch version.

Not drawn yet, nor is the back wing, tail, the front leg hasn't been coloured in, the dual layered background isn't done, the motion blurring isn't done, the glitters aren't added, nor are the sparkles, the camera flare isn't done, the bloom effect isn't present, there's no rainbow, the back ear needs reshaping, I need to add the feather detail and texture, all the hair needs reshaping and reshading, the head needs reshading and umpteen different things have yet to be done. (I pretty much made myself a checklist here) After all, it's just a progress shot. Thanks for the feedback regardless.

Give it a week and it should be finished, providing college doesn't take over even further. Add me to your watch list and you'll be notified when it's done, I also upload a daily sketch or other piece of work whilst I work on bigger projects like this, of if you like I'll try and remember to send you a PM when it's complete.

Unfortunately, due to how it works I spend more of my time erasing the colours that have to be outside the lines for the blur than actually making progress on anything else.
