It's a boundary collar. Rather than a buried fence, there's a transmitter plugged in in the house

Oh yes, we are getting one for maxy(my german shepherd)
because she chases and kills kargaroos and one really grownd her
and she also kills wombats
so we are getting her a bondery fence

She is wonderful. Loving, loyal, smart, friendly yet protective. I got her from the local humane society. She had been there for 6 months, poor thing.

Aww, I have a Sheppard Collie and she's the same way. She was rescued from an abusive family so she still a little shy around strangers. I bet your dog is so happy to have a home now!

I think they know and are appreciative of being rescued. All my animals have been rescues.
