Turns out there is a simple explanation for their inclusion in Megaforce. A comic story revealed the Supersonic Rangers were a team of six from the planet Xybria, homeworld of Trip from Time Force.

And Ace was such a tremendous asshole that watching his smug ass die was totally worth putting up with his shit. I know Trek's a homicidal asshole, but Ace was everything I could ever hate in a leader and watching him bite the dust by way of gunshot wound to his forehead was just too good to be true!
