Description Okay, so here are a couple oil paintings of mine. All of them used references, but being the bad girl I am I don't know what they are. Sorry.

So this is...a seascape. Obviously. It was done...I can't remember when. Maybe last school year? It was a quick painting, 'cus it's actually a knife painting. I'd always wanted to try knife painting, and this was my first one, and afterwards I'm now like, nuh-uh, I stick to my brushes. XP

That looks great... someone's asked me to paint a seascape for them and having never done one before i'm having a look for some ideas. The choppy knife effect seems to have worked well for you.

Thank you! Yes, I find that the knife technique works best on landscapes and seascapes

I really like this actually. (I personally suck at landscapes and impressionism which is probably why).

i don't see anything wrong with using a ref.
if you paint a still life you use plants as ref.
