wore this when I saw that one film- Legacy at midnight.Seeing movies in costumes is super fun!!! Even if the movie is ultimately quite a letdown. Me and a friend of mine dressed up (he was an ENCOM worker) and we got a ton of compliments. I got swarmed a couple of times for pictures, especially when I found a friend of a friend dressed up as Quorra. XD
Not exactly finished, but it will be soon.

Well, first I bought the hockey helmet, the same kind they use in the film. (the internet has everything.) Then I bought a white unitard. Smoothed out a lot of the wear and tear on the helmet and then spray painted it white as well as taking some foam and fitting it into the back. Then using [fabric] paint markers I drew the designs on the helmet. Then I took fabric paint and drew circuitry designs on the unitard.

Yes! I plan to now that I have some free time! The front is pretty much done. Just need to finish up the back, work on the sleeves and maybe add some more circuitry to the helmet. I'm hoping to get the costume done before the end of July.

I'm using boots, but I'm going to make legwarmers/covers to put over them. They'll look like Yori's boots ideally. And the current costume looks exactly like this. I haven't gotten a chance to work on it since December.

Does this paint go well with lycra, that is.. anything stretchy? I hear one has to buy special paints for that because otherwise the paint cracks!
Also the shapes you painted, the triangle and the circuitry, look flawless. I've seen many Tron costumes but the paint always bleeds, or is irregular or whatever, it doesn't look as good as what you've done. Did you mask it somehow, with mask tape or...? Or is it some kind of.. stencil?

okay my unitard is actually 14% lycra, and 86% nylon.

My unitard is lycra. at least I'm pretty sure it is. I'd have to check, but I don't have it with me right now. I'll get back to you on that.
The paint cracks a little when it's on, but you can't even see cracks from far away. It's only really visible if you look super close.
At first I was going to try fabric markers, but those ultimately bled, even when I masked off an area. when I switched to paint I believe I tried to mask it off, but I don't think I was pleased with the results. Ultimately, I decided to paint it by hand. Yes, by hand. I'm insane. It's extremely stressful at times, especially when trying to mirror patterns, but I think that the end result is worth it. I'm also rather a perfectionist, which is why it's only half finished. The sleeves, and half of the backside of the costume have yet to be painted.

eh. various reasons. The ending mainly. What. the. Heck. -________- It didn't feel like a TRON film, maybe because they made it too mainstream (gosh i must be turning into a hipster). It lacked the lighthearted seriousness (man, what an oxymoron!) that the first film had. The first film had a certain... magic about it that Legacy lacked. Also, it hurts to say, but parts kind of bored me... (my friend almost fell asleep!) Also, there wasn't enough explanation about things. Gosh. Just thinking about it makes me angry.
Me and my friend refuse to call it a TRON film. It is known as Legacy to us. We both like the marketing though.

I understand. I liked it, but I also nitpicked it as well. I want to add that about the lightheartedness, I hope to put up a review in the next few days. *hugs*

yeah... my parents haven't seen it yet... and last night they told me that I have to see it with them. Hopefully it'll be a little better the second time around... but then again it might just make me more angry...

TRON 2.0 is a rather old game now. (although not quite as old as the other TRON games) It came out around '03/'04 (depending on which version you get). I've been meaning to get the game for years now.... and the disappointment of Legacy gave me incentive to finally track down a copy.
