Description Thanks to for the photo. Always a pleasure to work with you. His portfolio can be found here [link]

A huge, huge, huge thanks to the wonderfully amazing and glorious of for helping me with the costume, makeup, and doing this write up for me (most of it anyway). Without her this would have just been me in fur pants and heels looking completely awful.

---------------------------------

This cosplay presented us with new challenges, in particular achieving the look of tiptoeing like a hoofed creature. Yet a lot of the things ended up being pretty simple to obtain or achieve. Construction of the core outfit actually went from bottom to top - feet first, wig last. A great percentage of this cosplay came into being via makeup on the day.

Wig - Getting the right wig is usually a huge pain. Somehow we were lucky enough to find the right colour and curl pretty much immediately. Probably the most expensive single component. Though it was the first thing we got, it was the last we could work on. There was a fair amount of hacking the night before the con to get the style right once all the bits were attached.

Horns - Sculpey on foil, then acrylic paint. These were hot glued to the wig.

Ears - Actually something Chryso had sitting around for another cosplay. We plan to redo these. In natural light the colour was fine but under synthetic lights they were a weird unnatural colour. These were also hot glued to the wig.

Scarf - Commissioned a good friend's mum to get this 2.5 metre screen accurate fluffy red monstrosity. Much gratitude to her for getting it to us on time despite her busy schedule. (Note: The thing is /insanely/ comfortable. I wish red was my colour so I could wear it out and about more!)

Pants - The goat legs are made up of shorts, spats, heels and hooves. We wanted to achieve the digitigrade (tiptoe) look as closely as possible. Pantyhose were worn underneath to achieve the thinnest diameters possible in certain places like the hocks, and also gave protection from the itchy fur (and made me feel oh so womanly with the heels :3 but really, they were a life saver).

Shorts - Long synthetic fur that we somehow found in the right colour, texture and length. It matched the crepe hair flawlessly. And cheap to boot. It is cut in a manner to emphasise the rump and knees, and therefore extend the digitigrade illusion. A hidden zip and a poseable tail were also added.

Spats - Shorter fur also somehow in the same colour. To get the right pattern we cling-wrapped my leg's while I was wearing heels and then placed masking tape over it to create a skintight pattern. The fabric was cut to the masking tape pattern, with extra emphasis was placed on the back of the heel to further the digitigrade illusion.

Heels - We'd always known we wanted to give a real digitigrade look even if it meant discomfort on the day (and boy did it!). So we used high heel shoes and removed the heels. I lovingly hacked up some gorgeous 5 inch suede heels while Chryso cried in the corner. The heels we bought were well constructed, we had to hack through fibreglass and several metal spikes to get the heel off. The heels are hidden by the spats and hooves. A foam pad on each heel base helped cushion and balance each step. We literally bandaged these heels to my feet using self-adhesive sports wrap. These will be getting remade as my feet were almost bleeding by the end of 6 hours of wearing them and walking about.

Hooves - How to get this right stumped us for ages, yet came together in surprisingly little time. In the end, we used a foil base to construct the general shape, onto which we added a lightweight but hardy sculptamold (paper clay) core for strength. Finally, a layer of thermoplastic beads was moulded together to form the outer layer, which was strong but flexible. This was painted with acrylic and lightly glossed.

Hair - Once again, experience with CATS cosplay came into play. We used a tonne of crepe hair. For the back hair and the blonde belt of fur around the waist, tuille backing was cut and onto this crepe was hot glued. These were spirit gummed as whole pieces on the day. All of the remaining hair was painstakingly spirit gummed bit by tiny bit on the day. This included arm hair (in two colours), a layer of blonde around the waist to give the appearance of a transition of skin into fur (instead of a sharp border), chest hair and facial hair. A light sprinkle of raw sculptamould representing fresh snow complete the look.

Props - These were planned but not utilised. In future you may see the umbrella, parcels and flute.

---------------------------------

That about sums that up. If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask. The most common one will probably be how painful the shoes were...They were very, very painful. I won't be wearing this costume again until I remake the shoe rig, even if it means remaking the entire bottom half of the costume.

Hello,
This is wonderful, love it!

I have been looking for a good "Tumnus" for the last 3 days, I need a stock image to make art.
I do my art just to have fun and to improve my Photoshop skills, I don't sell it or anything. I am with this Narnia idea on my head and I want to take it out... I want to know if I can use your image to do this art (of course i will send it to you and link your name to it etc...) Can I?
In my profile you can see Alice in Wonderland art I did with stock images.
