Description
In the heart of the Ironpeak Mountains, amidst the molten rivers and smoky caverns, the Grasp of the Underforge was born from the ambition and craftsmanship of Durnir Hammerhand, the legendary dwarven smith. Durnir, known for his relentless pursuit of perfection and power, sought to create a pair of gauntlets that would embody the might and resilience of the mountain folk. For decades, he experimented with alloys and enchantments, delving into ancient runes and forbidden magics.
The breakthrough came when Durnir discovered a vein of ore infused with the essence of the earth's core. This ore, shimmering with flecks of gold and imbued with innate magic, became the foundation of the Grasp. Forging the gauntlets in the heart of the Underforge, Durnir chanted old runes, binding the essence of earth and fire into the metal. The runes he etched upon the gauntlets glowed with a fierce blue light, symbols of protection and strength. But in his quest for power, Durnir tapped into the volatile energies of the deep earth, unwittingly cursing the Grasp with a restless spirit of the depths.
Properties:Mountain's Might: The wearer of the Grasp gains an unparalleled command over stone and earth. They can cast "Stone Shape" once per long rest without expending a spell slot, allowing them to sculpt stone into any form they desire within limits.
Forge's Fury: When the wearer strikes an enemy with a melee attack, the gauntlets emit a burst of blue and orange runes. The target takes an additional 1d4 fire damage as the runes unleash the fury of the forge. This fire is not merely heat but the essence of creation and destruction, capable of igniting even the coldest hearts.
Anvil's Endurance: Once per day, the wearer can invoke the endurance of the anvil, granting them temporary hit points equal to 1d12 + their Constitution modifier. This surge of vitality represents the unyielding nature of the mountains themselves.
Restless Depths: The spirits of the deep earth bound within the Grasp are never fully content. After using "Mountain's Might," the wearer feels the weight of the mountains upon their shoulders, reducing their speed by 10 feet until their next long rest as the earth itself seems to cling to them.
Forge's Reckoning: Each time "Forge's Fury" is invoked, the gauntlets absorb heat from their surroundings. The wearer's next attack roll is made with disadvantage as the cold of a temporarily cooled forge bites into their bones, a reminder that creation and destruction are two sides of the same coin.
The Grasp of the Underforge, while a marvel of dwarven craftsmanship, embodies both the pinnacle of their art and the peril of their ambition. Its wearer wields the might of the mountains but must always remember the balance of the deep, lest they be consumed by the very power they seek to command.
