I do love the Hokum's design- those contra-rotating blades make it that little bit special, I think

I remember hearing about these helicopters way back in the 1980's?
Did the Russians ever field any of these?

I wonder how they'd stack up against Apaches?

Depends on the situation really, both are on par minus the KA-50 having limited movement of the cannon and being operated by 1 man only.
Technology whise they are sorta on par.
You should get DCS: Black Shark and try it for yourself really, great sim.
Awesome work man, beauty of a machine.

Good question, but if I'm not mistaken both Kamovs and the Apache was built for ground attack/fire support role. I don't if any of them could be fitted with air-to-air weaponry?

Interesting point you make. I suppose I always match like vehicles against each other because it see's one would be best suited to hunt the other.
Since attack helicopters have performance envelopes analogous to WWI biplanes, it's hard not to entertain romanticized notions of Apaches dogfighting against Blacksharks.
Guess I've been watching too much Airwolf.
