Fractal Thingy 671Don't do it nearly often enough, but I love it when I get light coloured backgrounds to work in fractals. It's surprisingly hard. A lot of colour gets washed out and you end up relying on the black to add contrast. This is probably one of my all time favorites. Thinking of having it printed and hang it on a wall somewhere.
So I made this a little after the awful Australian bush fires of 2019-2020. I still remember that video of that injured Koala sitting miserable surrounded by fire. So sad.
Spinifex is a grass common to central Australia but the shape of those grasses was similar to a particular igneous texture seen in very particular rocks. As a result komatiite rocks are described as having spinifex texture. Komatiites are an epic throwback to when our planet was a way way more awful place to be. Most occurred in the Archean (2.5-4 Billion years ago). Back then the mantle was hotter so magnesium rock lava derived straight from the mantle could erupt on the surface much more easily. These rock are economically significant because many are good sources of nickle and gold.
So why would a spiraling ball of flaming sticks remind me of anything other than Spinifex?
