Description !!Drakoi are a closed species, you may not make your own!!

yes, you read that right, part 1. theres more coming. I have a 2500 word doc on them. Its actually still not done

Subtypes
There are six subtypes of Drakoi - marinus, lana, parvus, magnus, aves, and serpens.

Marinus Drakoi (sagidrakoi) are suited to a semi-aquatic lifestyle - they have thick, paddle tails, webbed hands and feet, and shorter, stockier limbs.

Lana Drakoi (sredrakoi) are the only type capable of growing fur and hair - and are therefore more suited to life in the mountains, and other cold areas.

Parvus Drakoi's (kradrakoi) distinct trait is they are about half the size of a standard Drakoi. They can be mixed with any other subtype, as their only defining trait is their smaller size.

Magnus Drakoi (bedrakoi) are the parvus's opposite - they are about twice the size of a standard Drakoi. Like the parvus, they can be mixed with any other subtype, as their defining trait is their larger size.

Aves Drakoi (uidrakoi) are uncommon, and are the birdlike type. They have feathers covering most of their bodies, and some are capable of gliding short distances with the long feathers on their arms.

Serpens Drakoi (segidrakoi) are the rarest subtype, and possibly the most unique - instead of legs, their bodies transition smoothly into a tail.

Biology

Drakoi are omnivorous, with diets varying on location and individual preference, and have a very sturdy digestive tract.

Drakoi shed their scales as often as four times a year when they’re young, and shedding slows down to once a year as they reach adulthood. Adult Drakoi shed once every two years, but do not grow any more.

While they do shed less, any lost scales will typically regrow within a few days.

Lana obviously do not shed scales, but they do regularly shed their fur, but it is a continuous process rather than an event that happens every so often. Instead of shedding, Aves molt their feathers.

The lifespan of a Drakoi averages at 160 years, reaching full maturity at 20 years.

Appearance

The face, chest, inner arms, and inner thighs are covered in soft, fleshy scales, while their backs and outer sides of their limbs have more hardened scales. On Lana and Aves, the harder scales are replaced by fur and feathers, respectively.

From just under the chest to about halfway down the tail, and on their lower legs and feet, they have armored plates to protect their soft innards and limbs. Despite the texture of the plates, they are still quite flexible. All Drakoi subtypes have these plates - except for the leg scales on Serpens.

They have five fingered hands, and birdlike, four-toed feet. Exceptions to this are the lana subspecies, which can rarely have paws, and the serpens subspecies, which do not have legs at all. Marinus subspecies have webbed hands and feet.
