So is ActionScript a programming language itself? The code you've written looks very similar to C/C++.

Yah; I think I mentioned somewhere that it's an OOP like C++ or Java (don't blame you for missing that part, since I've no idea where I wrote it either ).
It's a bit of a strange hybrid, though, since ActionScript 2.0 was more like a scripting language for doing little things with the animations rather than creating classes, etc. and ActionScript 3.0 has sort of grown from there by having bits grafted on. That said, for the most part you don't really notice that point.

No - but you may need the latest version of Flash Player to view it. Is it giving some sort of error message?
