Description This is the fourth picture from the series called:
"Ceci n'est pas Magritte"
a series of 10 pictures so far, wich will grow some time soon.

Many people have made homages and reinterpretations of Magritte's work, so this series is nothing new, only this time is my personal view on his work, I wanted to grab some of Magritte's famous series and leitmotifs and to use them in a different context where the expectator can still be able to recognize the original motifs and at the same time create in their minds a new story or sensation based on their individual background or personal experiences.

excellent post-production.
I really like how "raw" it looks in black and white, but it still shows quality because of the flawless editing.

and that is only the formal part of it.
the idea is superb too.
I think I have seen this shoe-feet merging before (but I don't remember the artist), but that doesn't mean you also have...

Divadlo In reply to saturninus [2008-10-20 02:16:49 +0000 UTC]

Thank you Sir,
I didn't understand very well the last two lines, about merging before... well first was Magritte at "Modele Rouge" here's the link to the piece: [link]
then 2233424 thousand people have also made their interpretations on this piece, and now me, and yes I have seen many, but I like mine better

saturninus In reply to Divadlo [2008-10-20 09:29:42 +0000 UTC]

hahaha maybe that is why it was familiar...
but no, I think it was another re-interpretation that I had in mind. dunno.

anyway: I only made this remark because this is a piece in your series which doesn't really differ in concept from the original (inspirational) one.

but I still like it!

Divadlo In reply to saturninus [2008-10-20 16:04:23 +0000 UTC]

still... I don't understand what you meant
or what you were implying or suggesting
or maybe I do... jajajajajaaj
anyway
about the differing from the original concept: well... I think the others have the same relation to the original concept as this one, in terms of the relation of the fabric and the lovers and the fact that it's suggested that the piece is an incouncius reference to his death mother when they found her death in the river and they pulled the body out, she had a cloth in her face...

well, you see, I didn't even know that biographical detail!

and what about the shoes? they were so poor in his childhood that their toes peeped out of their boots?

Divadlo In reply to saturninus [2008-10-20 19:26:32 +0000 UTC]

jajajaajajja
I guess you didn't make it to the theater
or it was a reaaaallyyyy short play

saturninus In reply to Divadlo [2008-10-20 19:56:58 +0000 UTC]

it was 1.5 hours. a decent one-act piece. quite shocking, though.
