========== WRITTEN TEST ===========

“Andalusst City,” Ava murmured. “Well, it certainly lives up to its rumors.

All around her, life was taking place. Many ‘mon brushed past her as she walked on, hurrying on their path to their destinations. Venders shouted out to get passing possible customers’ attention. The sun was high in the sky, and a slight breeze rolled by. It was such a beautiful day that even the ominous fog that surrounded the city did nothing to dampen anyone’s spirits. Navi levitated above her friend, seeming lost in the sights of the city they had accidentally stumbled (quite literally at that) into.

As they turned the corner still lost in thought, Ava suddenly found herself bumped into the ground. Navi looked at the collision in surprise.

“Hey watch it! Why, I oughta toss ya into the street for that!”

“A-ah!” Ava rubbed her head, “I’m so sorry mister!” She looked up to see the ‘mon that she had bumped into stand up and brush himself off. It was a Furret with lightly-colored eyes. He looked as if he was blind, but he seemed to still be able to look in Ava’s direction to give her a stern look of disapproval. Navi quickly came to Ava’s aid.

“We are sorry. My friend did not see you come around the corner. We were so lost in the sights-”

The Furret began to chuckle, stopping Navi mid sentence. “Hey, just joshin’ ya. On;y uptight nerds fight over bumpin’ into each other. I like your style, though. You new around here? I’m guessin’... stepped outta the fog and got all confused? How close am I?”

The two Pokémon looked at each other in surprise. “Actually, you’re spot on!” Ava exclaimed, amazed. This seemed to make the Furret grin.

“Oh yeah? Think I’ve heard that one before… maybe not, though. My memory’s all fuzzy after ya scrambled my brain a few seconds ago. Anyway… name’s Cuffin. Pleased to meetcha! Now, how ‘bout you tell me who ya are?” Cuffin made a gester for the pair to follow him as he walked through the crowd. Unknowingly, Ava and Navi found themselves walking beside him, or rather, walking and floating depending on who you ask.

“Oh, my name is Ava,” the Shinx chirped, “and this is my friend here Navi.” She pointed to the Banette, who just waved and smiled. For a ghost Pokémon, she did not seem to give off that mischievous vibe. Ava, however, seemed to have taken the responsibility of the trickster of the gang.

“Not bad, not bad,” Cuffin said as they started to turn the corner, “I wouldn’t name my kids that… but hey, it’s a free world...”

Cuffin trailed off as they walked through rushing Pokémon, as if in thought. After a small silence, he went on. “So, you guys lookin’ into the guilds here? They look pretty desperate for newbies. Think you’d wanna join one of ‘em?”

“As a matter of fact, we were,” Navi said in a matter-of-factly tone. Ava nodded, “Uh-huh! We’re joining the explorers for sure! I have a feeling we’ll find what we’re looking for if we join their ranks!”

As the crowd thickens, it seemed as if for the first time after meeting him, Cuffin started to have trouble getting through the crowds. Ava was about to offer her help, however the look in Cuffins eyes told her that he could handle simply walking through a crowd on his own. The crowd was clearing anyways, and once again Cuffin navigated with minimal trouble.

“Really? I wouldn’ta pinned ya for that type. I guess they’d be glad to have ya, though. From what I know, they always want ya to have some kinda “team name” to work under ‘em with. What do ya think yours would be?”

“I think Team Butterscotch would be a good enough name,” Navi answered. Ava grinned and nodded in agreement. “Isn’t it a nice name? We picked it the moment we heard about this city’s guilds!” Ava exclaimed.

Cuffin grinned. “Well, ain’t heard that one before. You might no wanna walk into the rough parts of town callin’ yourself that… eh, or maybe do it anyway if you can handle yourself. I mean, no doubt you can probably through a punch, or maybe you’ve got a silver tongue. The guilds look for stuff like that. How ‘bout you tell me what ya think your strengths are, just to get your story straight for when they wanna know?”

“Its my wicked speed, no doubt!” Ava exclaimed, bouncing a head a bit. After getting too far ahead, she stopped and looked back, waiting for the others to gradually catch up. She seemed a bit thoughtful before she continued on. “Other than that, I guess my second best strength would be my charisma or intelligence.”

Navi rolled her eyes. “Intelligence is something you do not have much of with all that reckless energy. For my strengths, I feel like my intelligence and wittiness would be my strongest.”
Cuffin nodded. “Yeah… yeah, I can respect that. Everybody’s gotta get by in their own way, and there ain’t nobody who knows that better than me. If you play on your strengths, you’ll get far here, I bet.” They fell silent, letting Cuffin’s last sentence sink in. Suddenly, Cuffin dashed in front of them, almost starting yet another collision. “I hate to deprive ya of my presence, but I’ve gotta bounce. I’m sure you’ll see me again, so don’t sweat it. I’m sure the guild’ll love to have ya.”

“Oh, ok. Um, bye, I guess?” Ava said as Cuffin tipped his hat. He dashed off before anything else could be said. The two new arrivals watched as he skillfully avoided colliding with anyone or anything else. It made them wonder if he really was blind at all, or if it was all a trick. Still, they both decided they might never know. As Cuffin disappeared from sight, the two turned in the opposite direction, and continued on their way.
