Description
This was done over the summer of 2012, it took about 7 hours and is around 18 by 24 inches done in charcoal in an additive/subtractive method.
The imagry was inspired by another piece of art on a similar topic; the island turtle, a creature that appears in some fantasy stories, and I wanted to try my hand at it
I feel that the piece has a lonelyness to it, as I have the castle but there are no people, just a few birds and the giant sea-turtle swimming past an equally unihabbited isle. Many questions can be arroused, what happened to the people who built the castle? Where is the turtle going? I enjoy making art that hints at a story and this I think is very successful at that.
