Edit: Could someone please be kind enough to tell me why they like this texture.
Personally I don't and would never download it or use it in my manipulations. 
But it is the most faved, downloaded and used texture in my gallery. As I want to make truly useful textures for the community, it would really help to know what makes this special. I would be most grateful for any input.

and since you asked... I personally am drawn towards textures that have something rough and edgy about them. I don't care about the color because that can easily be adjusted. There is something dynamic in the scratches that I really like. Does that help you at all?

I love the art because it reminds me of bone and the raw imperfection of the latter and of life.
It pulled up the keyword "bone" when I was looking for such texture for a skeletal-inspired character, and I absolutely adore it. Would use it again.

I like the movement it has and the sense of something touched it--imprints. And because of the pattern, the subconscious picks up things--a face here, a claw there, a kiss on the forehead over there. It has interesting elements. And feels raw.

Hi in answer to your question. I was in a hurry looking for a quick texture to put on top of my art to check something. This was on the front page of all textures and looked cool and rough to go with my zombie. So that's why I downloaded it and I always fave stock I download.

It has perfect imbalance.Β If you think about the art principle ofΒ "divine proportion (or golden ratio)" it matches that really well.Β The viewers eye is drawn by the curve in the upper right and that's one place that it should/could be drawn.Β The hint of blue also adds dimension/depth.Β Also notice in the upper right how the bottom curve is complimented by the opposite and understated curve above it.Β It also looks very random which adds to its appeal.

Hey, I see that you've asked why so many of us love this texture. Many have used it, tell you they love it, yet you don't seem to see the beauty in it. When I look at this, I see something very real with such beautiful colors. Something so true, so raw, that it either is real and only you found the beauty in it, or you've created it completely which is why it is so beautiful. From far way, the way the colors combine are what draw you in, and when you get to see it closely you notice the reality of the texture, the character, if you will. Either way its amazing. Thank you for your contribution! I would love to use this on my website actually, possibly as an overlay or possibly just the way it is. Would you let me know if that's possible please?
