I'm on a team right now and we're making a short introduction animation for a local film festival. Our story is about a paranoid farmer who's interrupted from watching movies in his house when his farm is visited by an alien. He goes out to see what's up, but ends up getting abducted. He thinks he's going to get probed, but it turns out the abduction was an accident and the Alien is an avid movie fan himself. He collects corn from farmers' fields to make his popcorn.

One of my jobs on the team was to design the characters for our film. This is the final design for our Alien, "Ollie". He's in shadows for the first part of the film, so he needed to have a threatening silhouette, but have a friendly/goofy quality that would read right away once he is revealed.
