Description
OMG! I am absolutely ecstatic to receive a daily deviation!Thank you to hanratty-stock for the suggestion &
thank you to all my watchers as well!
-----------------------------------------------------------
I created a new large scale version based off of my smaller piece which can be seen here .
The overall size of this wall hanging is 23 1/8" in diameter. There are two pieces of Baltic Birch plywood that were used and glued to braces on the back side. I had to use two pieces since my engraving area is only a maximum of 12" x 24". I raster engraved the wood & then vector cut the paper so that I could lay it into the wood.
The entire project took over 20 hrs to complete. The hardest part was getting everything to line up properly.
The engraving alone took 2 1/2 hrs per piece x 2 pieces = 5 hrs total! Never engraved something this long before.
I created the inlay in the middle using watercolor on Strathmore watercolor paper.
Here's a shot of the piece before I added the inlay.

My Grandpa does woodworking, so I know how unbelievably frustrating an intricate project like this can be. I had to favorite this; your ambition as a craftsman is inspiring!

Thank you!
This design took a lot of problem solving. I had no idea it would take so long and be as tedious as it was to complete. I'm glad to hear you like it!
