I took this set of photos as part of an attempt to win ISTD (International Society of Typographic Designers) membership, unfortunately I didn't win this time as my work took on a more photographic angle, rather than typographic.The letters are made out of cardboard and polystyrene, and wrapped in parcel tape, they are each about 50cm tall.
These photos (along with others) formed a book which I put together investigating the relationsip between type and environment, it explores how the environment in which I placed these typographic models affects the message, and how the model and it's message affect the nature of the environment in which it is placed.

The idea here is brilliant. This empty space arounf letters and footprints in front of them gives realistic feeling of getting lost.

I really like the emptyness of this photo and all the little footprints around the ground at the lettering. Looks like someone's been wandering around for hours.
I think it would maybe look better if you couldn't see the hedge in the distance though, just cause it would make it look like it was a larger area of empty land.
Just my opinion though.
Really like this and I love the fact that the letters made out of polystyrene, instead of just photoshopped in or something.
How long did it take you to make them?

Oh and it took me about a week to make all the letters, had to measure them out and cut them out by hand!

Thanks, I agree with you, but unfortunately the field didn't go on forever! Perhaps I'll have a go at photoshopping the fence out, then it really would feel like it went on forever as if it were the arctic.
