2001-11-01 I joined the staff at deviantART to take place as graphics admin and help them out with various things related to the site. My first mission was to redesign DA, and while making it I thought "why not make a new deviantAMP to release with deviantART v2". Since it was skinning that got me into the art scene from the beginning and it is what I like to do the most I thought it was pretty obvious that I had to make this skin.This is also the skin that I put most effort into. The basic shapes was created in 3D Studio Max and imported into photoshop to put it all together and then airbrush like never before. It took some time before I got it the way I wanted, but then again, I have never combined 3dsmax and PS while making a skin before. I'm also pretty new to the airbrush tool so this was quite a learning experience.
I tried to make this skin as detailed as possible without loosing to much functionality. There are button labels and I can see them good enough in my 1600x1200 resolution, so I think you should see them as well, hopefully.

Not to complain about this temporary (hopefully) inconvienence.
I'll go try WinAMP's site and a few others. In the event that this is the only place to find this, please, please let me know when and where this becomes available.
This is absolutely awesome. A GREAT! compliment to the site.
This skin alone is enough to make me think about switching back to WinAMP from QCD3.

oh this is sooo beautiful, I dowloaded it even before reading the description or any comments but as a long time winamp user, personaly I think the skin would look better without the "normal" symbols labeling the main window numbers, and I wouldn't lose that much functionality.

This is really awesome .. . ONLY problem that I can see is that the shuffle and repeat buttons are dark when on and bright when off, as opposed to being the opposite. But other than that, this is utterly cool, so +fav

I appreciate the attention to detail, as well as the fact that the person who created it could kick my ass at skinning without even trying, but...I can't truthfully say I like this skin, too high contrasty, and to complicated. Skillfully done, but I still wouldn't use it.

Although fantastic detail, it's just too complex, and it contains a style used over many many many times. It's just getting old. I have about 7 similar skinz similar in style to this. This is nothing different, but actually I have one that is much better than this. Im not saying it's bad, I just think it is a bit too repetitive and overdone. I think if this looked like Nucleo, it would make a fantastic skin.

i really hate skins that make it so hard to find the buttons and that you cant even read, espeacially when they look cool.

This skin sucks hardcore.
In fact, for the most part, skinning in general sucks. It completely violates any UI standards that are built into an OS. I'll not say that skinning is completely bad, because it is nice to give user control over their look, but sometimes stupid people take that to the extreme and do things like build in lame stuff that looks like molded metal and vines. Please inform me of how the hell that is useful, because I sure as hell can't figure it out.
