Him free holding the sniper at this distance above the planet doesnt make sense, he's already sitting on something stable, the gun should be attached to the sitting platform for stability. Besides that, the character is cool.

If the round is magnetically accelerated, it would reach terminal velocity long before it struck the target. While the target would be destroyed, "lumpy paste" is improbable. More like "dismembered corpse."

I love the concept of an Orbital sniper. Β Must have some massive rounds in that little piece, and the lag time would be a killer, but you're pretty well hidden. Β How large would his platform be? Β You'd need enough mass to make him stable (recoil) but small enough to not be a sitting duck himself once someone detects him.
