Lovely lighting! What did you use to shoot this?

Thanks, Holly. I use only natural light, I have no lighting whatsoever. Here is is a just in front of a dark garage, with the outside natural light in the shade on a sunny day.
Here is the making of of another one in the series: [link]

ahh that's perfect! My kind of no budget set up I thought the lighting looked so perfect and natural... but it also looks like a studio, so I figured it had to be inside with set up lights

I had been there many times before, without realizing that it was the perfect spot!

Merci. C'est ce que j'essaye de faire, mais faire ressortir le fond n'est pas facile. Je suis content que tu le lises comme ca.

I usually get my essence of fir trees intravenously, but at least you have the sprout well secured until the roots establish themselves ...

Yes, it is very important!

i find something un-nerving about this... i think it is the idea of grafting to become half man half plant... it gives a whole new meaning to growing your own fruit and veg

Absolutely. Much more visible than our tiny natural fruits.

I love this... I love that you weren't afraid of using a relatively simple execution to a complex subject.

Is it a proverb that you just made up? It is very relevant!

One hears the expression "put hair on your chest" but, "put fir on your chest" is definately new.
At first I wasn't very keen on the tape but then I though about the grafting techniques used to propagate many plants, especially trees.
Lots of plants and even some species owe their existence to grafting. Tape is often the material of choice used to secure the graft until new growth occurs.

I really wanted to have some real bandages here, but the fir was too big.
So you graft your own trees? I have grafted some apple-trees with my father last year, but it was not so successful. I remember that my grand-father doing that when he was 98 years old, which in my opinion is either straight craziness or ultimate vision!

When I was young, I was taught how to set grafts but my attempts were only modestly successful.
Your grandfather has vision!! Doing nothing is the crazy thing.
Many years ago, a friend and I spoke about planting some apple trees near our newly built hunting camp.
Years later we were sitting around and the subject again surfaced. We discussed what might have been; if only we had planted those trees that 14 years before.
Many of the great works of civilization were invisioned and initiated by people that knew the work wouldn't be completed in their own lifetime. I think that vision is the truest legacy.

14 years... the trees would be perfect now.
Very thorough thought that you are here... and I believe that you're right. Because president Mitterrand represented something for me and just bad things for others, when the Pyramid at the Louvre was build, I had the exact same thought. His vision was our future, not his.

Meh, the tape is a bit distracting- but other than that, I can appreciate the idea of nature coming out of someones jacket

I wanted to say that nature is sick, using the image of sickness that everybody can relate to. By the way, I have updated the image to change the "tape".

Oh wow, how did I completely miss that? Was that the underlying concept / motivation for the entire series? In that case, I might tend to argue that "Merge with Nature VII" has the strongest voice-

The thing grew in my mind after having shot the first one without thinking (actually, it is Merge with Nature II). VII is likely my favorite, but on photographic criteria only. Thanks for revisiting it in all case!
