Originally this was flipped, but I remembered that the correct way to salute is with the right hand (from what I've heard)
And I like being accurate on little details....

Saluting with the right hand is the proper way to do it. Usually you only see left hand salutes in anime or with characters who don't know any better, or done on purpose. If you're in the military and in uniform, I DON'T recommend saluting an officer with your left hand, especially if they are an O-3 or above.
