Description
Background Characters for my story of Lefty:Mugsy is based on an amazing old character actor named Harold Huber who played mobsters in dozens of movies. I've seen him in a few and wanted to make a character based on him for my story of Lefty. Also, Mugsy features 2 scars Huber also had, just slightly different. Huber got his from Fencing though.
I like Mugsy. He's like the "bad guy" you can't help but like. And he's the only person Lefty would actually call a friend next to Paulie. Lefty has deep admiration and respect for the man, as a mentor and almost like an older brother. Mugsy does the same job as Lefty but is actually respected by the other mobsters. They laugh and joke with him but they know he's above them, kind of like a boss who treats you like a friend.
Paulie is a sad case. He was in the mob longer than Lefty, also an orphan with no where else to turn. He is an interesting character because he's so timid but he looks like your averaged Italian kid who is usually seen as tough, or even a bully type character. Paulie is the exact opposite and he get's picked on for that very reason. His nicknames include "Paulie the Parrot" and "birdie" Because he's so tiny and frail.
But once Lefty shows up after being orphaned himself (because of the mob burning down his apartment building) he becomes Paulie's guardian. They spend most of their time working, or scavenging for food. It's a hard life for kids in the early 1900's in the New York Slums. But they manage to get by thanks to each other.
Now, Frankie "The Face". If this guy doesn't give you nightmares I don't know what will. He's the type of guy who if he walks into a room, even if you don't see him a chill runs down your spine and all you can think of is "I need to get out of here now!" He's arrogant, vain, charismatic, evil, conniving douche bag who's only interest is moving up the mob family ladder. Though he is only incharge of Lefty's group, which is comprised of mostly goons and racketeer's he takes his job very seriously and demands utmost respect. People know to stay out of his way.
Though he acts very charming, and always shows up smiling and cracking jokes with the guys. Lefty is the only one who doesn't like him, or at least act like he does. Every-time Frankie shows up he's always like "What? No hello? No 'How was your day sweetheart?'" Lefty usually just gives him the same un-amused look and Frankie will then continue; "Why must you always give me that face Lefty? I'm beginning to think you don't like me."
Lefty can't stand the guy, but Frankie will never stop trying to charm him. Not because he likes Lefty, but because he knows when to keep important people on his good side.
As a little side note, Frankie has pock-marks on his right cheek, but it's kinda hard to tell on this pic.

Mugsy reminds me of Al Capone & Frankie reminds me of Humphrey Bogart.

Oh, yeah, I can see the resemblance... Though, it still screams Mel Gibson to me. XD
Anyway, love your Noir style. : D

Really interesting and nice concept design.
Middle guy reminds me of Prince Naveem from The Princess Frog for some reason.
Great work!

XD While I totally agree with all of that, I'd suggest staying away from Old Frankie face there. He's a dangerous man, and one who wouldn't think twice about killing anyone. He is just pure evil.

I actually was thinking that Mugsy looks a lot like some of those classic mobsters, so it was neat to see that he was modeled after a movie mobster. I love background information

XD HE just has one of those faces! Which is probably why he became such a commonly used Character actor. But sadly alot of those character actors never got alot of credit and fame, least not as much as they deserved. So I figured I'd do my own tribute to the guy in my Noir story.
