Description The Spinosaurus (SPY-no-SAWR-us ) or Spino is one of the dinosaurs  in  ARK: Survival Evolved. The Spino is a very well rounded mount, with decent speed on land, and very high speeds in water. When on land, the Spino lumbers along on four short legs, when in water, it speeds along, but with the major drawback of a large turning radius. This huge piscivore (fish eater) dominates the rivers and swamps of the island, its power rivaled only by Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus, and also the horrors of the deep, like Mosasaurus and Plesiosaurus.

Wild: Among the carnivores on the Island that can match Tyrannosaurus  in size, Spinosaurus aquareliga does not quite match its ferocity.

Domesticated: Spinosaurus is an incredibly well-rounded apex carnivore. Faster than a Tyrannosaurus in water, able to travel on land unlike a Megalodon , and larger than a Carnotaurus , its all-terrain versatility may be unrivaled. For hunters who wish to have a well-rounded mount, Spinosaurus may be the ideal choice—if they can acquire one.

Known Information: Spinosaurus four legs and large sail make it fairly swift on land, and incredibly fast in water. The one comforting fact about Spinosaurus is that it seems more at home near water than away from it. While the creature is insatiable while near water, it tends to become more docile as it gets further away from it. On one occasion, I only escaped a Spinosaurus by getting far enough from its lake home to make it simply lose interest.

Behavior

Spinosaurus is a deadly predator, however, it has a fairly small aggro range when compared to other large carnivores. It spends most of its time romping around and hunting fish and other creatures near the water.
Spinosaurus' are the apex predator of their environment, mainly due to the fact that they don't inhabit the same areas as Tyrannosaurus.Spinosaurus' have lower stamina than many animals within the game, however their all-around versatility make them an excellent mount. They walk on all fours, and swim akin to that of a crocodile. In the water, few creatures can threaten the animal, as they're as fast as the Sarcosuchus  they share the island rivers with. They prefer to stay close to the rivers, and will actually stop chasing a prey item if they travel too far from a water source. They also tend to retreat when low on health, in order to survive. As far as confrontation, giving it a wide berth will ensure safety for both the player and the Spino.

Appearance

Enormous amphibious theropods, the Spinosaurus is one of the island's largest predators. Distinctive thanks to their huge dorsal sail, elongated snout, and uniquely quadrupedal stance, these animals are primarily fish-eaters, patrolling the rivers and lakes in search of food. Their size also allows them to hunt bigger game, sometimes taking on crocodiles, other dinosaurs, and occasionally even marine reptiles that venture too far inland.

Color Scheme and Regions

This section displays the Spinosaur's natural colors and regions. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Spinosaur. The colored squares shown underneath each region's description are the colors that the Spinosaur will randomly spawn with to provide an overall range of its natural color scheme. Hover your cursor over a color to display its name and ID.

I do not own ARK: Survival Evolved or the dossiers.

You would. You've been brainwashed by it.

Oh sure, go ahead and insult the guy by calling him brainwashed. So by that logic, you've been brainwashed by Darth Vader and pugs, since you prefer and are OBSESSED with them. Being forever butthurt over a movie which is more then a decade old, and whose main goal is not scientifical accuracy shows a sign of retar... ahem ''backwards'' mind. Also hating, bashing and flaming an entire extinct species because of that one movie and harassing everyone for liking it(and spinosaurids in general) makes you an immature manchild. Oh, and the short legs thing isn't proven and accepted yet. One day we will know for certain what spinosaurus looked like, but for now we are free to draw it as we like. Don't worry, it's uncapable of killing your precious little t. rex in real life. Now, grow up and act mature or you will get spanked by the Emperor.

Why did they made that dino to walk/run on four legs anyway?

There was a study in 2014 that suggested that Spinosaurus moved on all fours. It's however not generally accepted. Interesting enough, it also often got depicted as doing so in the past, when people reconstructed with a generic carnosaur head. For further info, here is a starting point:
