Most people probably haven't played America's Army but I did, I actually really liked it, and this thing was a life saver.

Looks awesome, but it lacks the slat armor (cage surrounding vehicle, designed to defeat RPGs) and the cameras for the CROWS (Common Remote Operated Weapon System). Other than that, it looks awesome.

The CROWS cameras are there, but yea the model is so old it was made before the slat armor existed.

Well, the slat armor was introduced in Iraq because it defeated RPG-7s, I think most of the M1117s stateside lack the slat armor. Still looks great anyways.

That's amazing! It's cool to be able to see the actual AA 3d artists on DA, I tend to think of you guys more like gods or celebrities. Just today on my way home from High School, I saw 3-5 stryker vehicles going down the opposite lane, with 'wide load' signs across the front. The commanders' heads were poking out of the hatches, and it was really hard for me not to try to get a closer look. Military equipment rocks, and the level of detail you've sustained is outstanding!

Just blain wow, I like the way the edges don't seem to sharp like in most models and the way that the texture doesn't look like it's just been stuck on.

Nice work dude! I used to play AA all the time. It was a great online game. I found the bridge level very challenging but some great fun!

How very skillful of you.
Being a 3d artist myself (to an amature extent) I fully understand how difficult and frustrating it is to properly texture an object.
You have my respect.

Wow this is a great render, the skin is a touch fuzzy, but its hard to get textures to look perfect. keep it up.

this is really pretty man.. I'd like to see a closer shot of the interior.. I played americas army for a solid month but I couldn't get anywhere with it cuz my rank always sucked.. All I wanted was to use the sniper rifle. . haha!

Very nice work dude ... but the poly count seems pretty high ... does America's Army support that higher polies?
BTW I'm a Point of Existence modder for Battlefield Vietnam

Thanx, it has a full interior and luckily the Unreal 2.5 engine America's Army runs on; pushes polys pretty well. You can see the crashed version on the map SF Csar, and the normal version (as shown on this deviantion) on EandE training.

Sorry was talkn about the blackhawk there /\
Stryker can be seen on the SF Arctic, but sadly it is the closed version to save on frame rate. Hope to have the open version in a map, but by that time I'll prolly have to re-do it

If I can crit this at all I'd have to say the polies sure outweigh the texture. The model looks great but the texture just looks low res. It could be a problem with your unwrap or even your skinning technique but I assume its actually the resolution of your texture. Personally I'd up it 4x eg. 512x512-> 1024x1024

djmonkeyboy In reply to senor-freebie [2005-02-12 22:00:58 +0000 UTC]

Yep I wish it was higher res, but sometimes you have to make things with the parameters given to you. Mirrored as much as I could.

He does get to see the stryker up close he is in the military...

senor-freebie In reply to stilgar [2006-09-21 01:00:00 +0000 UTC]

When I made my comment the Stryker wasn't too common in the military so I was curious if he was in a part that was using it. BTW I suggest a rule between us ... no politics ... lets keep the comments to art related stuff as this is an art site ... that way we're free to disagree with each other as much as we like.

stilgar In reply to senor-freebie [2006-09-21 01:21:44 +0000 UTC]

Agreed, we may not agree on politics but about art....
It does not get so personal.. In fact I was hating where that whole converstaion was taking me ... No hard feelings from me. Hope it goes for you too.

senor-freebie In reply to stilgar [2006-09-21 08:58:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah ... no hard feelings ... I end up in discussions with people I don't agree with on a regular basis and if I harboured feelings against all of them I'd end up a pretty bitter person.

stilgar In reply to senor-freebie [2006-09-22 02:24:16 +0000 UTC]

I agree, it really is just you have to know that limit... You never know, you may end up really taking a person to heart if you gave it a chance....
Thank you....
