O my f**king god...why the hell would anyone need that much ammo for a mauser...

So you'd never run out of course!
But seriously, the designer's thought are questionable. If I needed more firepower, even back in World War II, I'd reach for a sub-machine gun, not a pistol with a big ass magazine.

This makes me really think of the red96 from 007 legends (it's a mauser c96) it has a standard 10 round mag but holds 30 rounds??? It fires fully automatic and has a ridiculous rate of fire

Dear God, where can I get one? XD and was it in the 9mm PB or the 7.93mm Mauser?
plus, how in the hell would you hold that thing!?

Unfortunately, I have no idea, this is an image I got from a site and not something I own.
To the best of my knowledge, all the Mauser M711 and M712 pistols were chambered for 7.63mm Mauser. Also, it isn't shown here, but all the Mauser pistols based on the C96 design had an attachable shoulder stock that doubled as a holster, so my guess is that the massive magazine was designed to be used with the shoulder stock to make the pistol into a sort of short carbine.
I don't know what the designer was thinking about when they made this, but despite attempts like this one, the whole C96 line of pistols was really outdated by the 1940s when these hit the battlefields.
