Description
"I only seek to save the Empire through trial by fire. Let the heretics cower in fear, for they know they cannot hide from us for long."Witch Hunter from the Human Empire of Warhammer. Tried some new line work and boy did this one pimp slap me in the face. My eye balls are red from all the line work.
Will add to the assembly line with all the rest to be colored.2.5"x3.5" India Inks #102 and 107 Speedball Nibs

Oh boy, I remind you of Moebius? Jeez, that's a pretty big leap of comparison. I don't think I deserve that one.
As for prescriptions, I've given it a thought for a bit. Especially since my eye sight isn't getting any better due to what I work on. Thanks for the kind words and the suggestion. If I end up wearing frames, I'd have you to blame.

I am serious. Working for long hours, huddled over white paper as it reflects the work light back on my eyes, and the little fine lines I weave in there. It does take a tole on me after a while. My eyes aren't getting any better that much is for sure. I take rests during the course of the day and I'm still lucky I don't wear glasses, but I know they're right around the corner for me. >_<

Yeah its very punishing on my lower back and shoulders as well, but the eyes take the blunt of the hurt. I'm just going to have to take extra care of my eyes whenever possible. Hence the 15 minute power naps I take around 3pm every day after working for a few hours.

So when you do this sort of insane detail do you have this all planned when you start, all the positive and negatives, or does the piece evolve as you create it? I mean that background - the headstones and roofline and trees... and then the hunter - all that detail - it's just amazing. Compostion is fantastic. Can't wait to see how you color this up.

Actually, that's one of my strengths and weaknesses, to tell you the truth Todd. As I draw I do have a mental plan of the line work, composition and details. However, I don't really pencil in any details or shadows. I just keep that in my mind and adjust it as I ink. That process, for me anyway, keeps the piece fresh and provides an element of spontaneity I find challenging and allows the finish to look..I don't know..funky fresh?
This Witch Hunter was drawn with no shadows or background really because the initial doodle of two big trees wasn't really what I inked in the finish. I just created the background as I was inking, which is very bad if you mess up...no second chances..which keeps me on my toes at all times. I have yet to make a booboo, but I know that day will hit me soon enough.
Evolving pieces work for me, but I guess that's why I work so slow when I have to pencil comic pages because I know I won't be the one inking them. Therefore I have to painstakingly plan, carve, and render out all the stuff for the inker to fill in. >_< James, if you're reading this, this means you!

you have an awesome eye for detail. My first character on Warhammer was a Witchhunter. But I quickly fell in love with the Witch Elf. -shrug- ^_^

I have a lot of fun doing the Warhammer pieces, mainly due to the fact I have more liberty to conceive them out as I see fit. I hope to get all the careers in the game done.

The lines are just perfect! And the draw is very good too, the character is so well positioned on the plane, the shadows are disposed on good equilibrium and the detail level is from a professional XD
