It SHOULD be a power up in the next Mario 2D platformer. It would be a nice surprise seeing a tails suit, because it would show SEGA and Nintendo's growing friendship.
I picture it would function like the propeller cap, yet you can do a spin attack like the Tanooki, Racoon, or Cape. You would get it from a mushroom that resembles Tails a bit.
