The Akhal-Teke program was making slow progress. With all of the preperations to move the entire farm to the new stable on the adjourning land there hadn't been much time for shows, let alone breeding and training.By mid July the farm was almost ready tho move. The plan was to transport horses purchased within the last year and the recently retired horses first so that they would have more time to adjust before being put out with the other horses. With one mare pasture ready and three stallion paddocks up we had enough room to look into expanding out tiny program.
Cheshire Farms had rarely come to our thoughts. They bred horses a world away from ours, sticking mostly to Iberian horses and Mustangs while we found ourselves immersed in horses from too many breeds to be considered true breeders by some. But now the farm came on our radar with strength that rivaled some of the top racing operations. The reason: Akhal-Tekes.
Cheshire Farms was holding ten horses for sale, bred by a small breeding operation in Russia. All of our Tekes carried some sort of extra color spark. Yelena, Shivva, and Prince all possesed a creme gene, giving them that golden sheen many horses in their breed were famous for. Zi was a grulla, a dark colored blue eyed wonder from Russia. Our next horse had to be special.
When Abby arrived at Cheshire Farms she went straight for the three mares. Stallions were useless without mares to cross them with and half of our Teke stock was stallions. Each mare glistened in the sunlight, but one stood out.
The mealy wild bay grazed slightly appart from the other two in the pasture, A gem of golden-brown in the emrald field. As one mare grazed a little too closely to her her ears flicked back. The mare came closer.
The pangre mare's ears went flat agaisnt her skull, lips pulled back and haunches shot her towards her shocked victim. Teeth flashed, grazed bay hide and it was over. The lead mare had shown her role as leader and won a home in the process.
We couldn't help but wonder as Abby wrote the check how this would go with our current mares who currently held a truce.

Personality: Nemesis, as her name suggests, is something of an enemy to all things normal and non-destructive. She has a 'don't try me' attitude and the bite to go with it. Unlike most of our 'problem' horses, Sis isn't a bluffer. She will test you until she knows you aren't one either. Once you quit with her you'll never get anything done with her. That's why only our most skilled staff are allowed anywhere near her and only Abby and Daniel work with her.

It is highly recommened that she be paired with a laid back stallion when bred. Sis is already a hot mare and a hot stallion would make a really hot foal that not many people would be happy with.
