Honestly dont know quite what i was thinking with this one.
Something vaguely toadish with just a smattering of Jabba.
Possibly both dead.

Whoa.... I have to say, these recent concepts of yours just seem to be growing more innovative and bizarre by the months, deviating from humanoid structures to entities unearthly in every sense of the meaning. o.o But I think that's just what makes these pictures incredibly riveting, aside from your extraordinary skills... As ever, the outrageously copious and near photographic level of detail has left me awe-struck, every little bubble and crevice of a wrinkle in the folds of the skin from the sunken rings of its numerous eyes to the broad yet intricate lips of whom you can detect even the slightest curl of hunger, really seem to make the creature spring to life, and the texture completes the blankness of the surrounding canvas nicely. The shading, as always, boggles my mind with its professional shape, dimension and smoothness - especially around the nose and nostrils -, and I once again adore the glossy, moist appeal of the lighting, particularly reflecting off the eyes, which seems to make them appear hollow and glassy as though the creature could be blind.... despite how beautiful and innocuous a title, there's something about the creature's countenance that speaks of underlying malice I find near unnerving. And I think you really outdid yourself with the blood this time. I find it almost convincingly real these days! The pearly sheen reflecting off every rolling globule breathes life and colour into it... While the colours are grotesquely lurid in a way, I find that when viewed from another perspective, they almost seem to give off that ethereal opalescent glow from which the piece seems to derive its name.

Man, these works are incredibly inspiring, even if for contrasting concepts. o.o I know it's an odd thing to say about macabre art, but how unconventional, realistic and marvelously done these are, and the level of devotion contributed to these pieces never ceases to amaze me, even filling me with new found motivation to apply that extra touch of diligence and eye for detail to my own. Keep up the awesome work!

thanks a lot
played around with the colours quite a lot. started out as quite flesh toned then went a bit greeny brown which made it look like a mutant toad. Eventually i desaturated the palette and went more pallid. yes indeed, i am that predictable
glad to hear youre feeling motivated. very chuffed if anything ive done has contributed to that looking forward to seeing any new pieces.

Wow.... Sounds similar to the crazy procedure I went through to give the blizzard around Kali in one of my works a more realistic appeal. o.o I guess that's how such opalescent colour schemes are managed.... Although sad to say, I won't be posting anything throughout March. It's the Black March thing. (I've got one or two already that I wish to upload.... Gah, one month. x.x' )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dloliver In reply to SiberiumAbyss [2012-03-10 11:30:20 +0000 UTC]

Ah, just to clear that up. It wasnt that i used all those colour schemes to get the final look, i pretty much replaced the colour palette until i decided on one i liked
Ok then, what might Black March be? (Apart from something grim sounding that happens after February?)

SiberiumAbyss In reply to dloliver [2012-03-10 11:45:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that was pretty much what I was referring to. XD I guess I was a little distracted when I tried to explain my point. And Black March is a campaign against the ACTA bill, landing a serious blow to media in general so that they'll notice the difference and acknowledge that what they're trying to bring to fruition is a mistake. So there's a massive strike where people refrain from submitting anything to their gallery (Some even storing away their deviations), downloading anything legally or illegally, going to the cinemas, buying games or movies, etc.... While the instigators of the ACTA campaign are mostly doing this for profit beside the copyright protection, we're trying to show them that the repercussions for carrying it out will deprive EVEN the luxury of profit... if anything, the ramifications go far beyond that. At least that's pretty much from what I've learned.... Not everyone is participating, of course, but I couldn't help but feel obliged to join the ranks.

dloliver In reply to SiberiumAbyss [2012-03-10 12:03:06 +0000 UTC]
